History & Purpose
The Korean Student Association (KSA) was established after the 1968 student strike at San Francisco State University. Our main purpose of this organization is to maintain unity amongst Korean and Korean American Students and to continue the education of culture, language, and tradition.
KSA, at San Francisco State University, hopes to satisfy the social, cultural, and political needs of Korean and Korean American students. Through personal hands on experiences, KSA intends to expose issues and conditions Koreans and Korean Americans are facing. Our main commitment is to:
1. Install a sense of pride having a Korean background.
2. Provide an environment where Koreans and Korean Americans can develop friendship and learn about our cultures and backgrounds from each other.
3. Promote the understanding of cultures and histories of Korean and Korean American students.
4. Install within every individual a desire to improve the lives of all Koreans and Korean Americans.
With these aspects in mind, KSA hopes to provide the members, through social, cultural, and educational events, with a better understanding and awareness of what Koreans and Korean Americans are facing in our society.
